Great succinct post. I would add a sixth based on my 15+ years in both traditional and ‘innovative’ philanthropy, which is: pain tolerance. Nothing kills the willingness to do something genuinely novel faster than the embarrassment associated with something going belly-up in a public way. But that’s what risk is. If you’re afraid to do anything that could blow up in your face, the likelihood that you trend away from marginal becomes exceedingly low.
