for those that are interested in the triplebyte for AIsafett idea, a friend of mine worked a triple bite and his analysis as to why they failed was because the company was YC startup, so they were trying to become a unicorn but their revenue for their software model (pre good LLMs) was linear with respect to costs, which is not what you want for a unicorn. moreover, they were affected by the covid-19 hiring freeze. I think the idea is more credible given LLMs and the community of ai safety

Sure, I'll do #11

Fate of the World was an interesting pc game similar to Daybreak; I really appreciated it for what it was, even though it didn't perfectly model geopolitics ofc, it was one of the first pieces of media to both say renewables are good but also it's harder to get people to change than it is to convince them of the good. hell, might even be the same people, I didn't look into Daybreak that much. I hashed out some ideas that honestly came out more interesting than I expected them to. I'm already making games right now for my current job so it's not a leap.

Board game misses how complex this sort of timeline would be. Your main driver (AI) is also your main risk surface (AI). Every positive capability you achieve without preparing everyone for the consequences is another tick towards midnight. And no one will approve of your 'ai safety stuff' if the public doesn't see any reason for it. Implement all the utilitarianism you want: public opinion will nosedive. Join with single governmnents: world tension increases even faster from the arms races. Or solve the arms race: previously lethal advancement combinations in the hands of a total war-focused instrumentation AI are harmess with no conflating problem.

Is your tech even good enough to be able to estimate when t will actually = 0? Or are you blind, because you de-funded your own labs through regulatory bans? (these are rhetorical scenarios not me accusing anyone, before I get some comment lol). Concepts like that! This sort of thing is very easy to implement in a game form as well. Metaculus is doing the hard work for us
